BOTOX® Cosmetic is a form of botulinum toxin commonly used in the reduction of facial and neck wrinkles. It partially paralyzes the wrinkle- causing muscle, giving the skin a smoother, refreshed look. It has been used in the eye for over 25 years, and has been a safe and effective treatment in experienced hands. BOTOX® Cosmetic is used in 20-30 year old patients to eliminate and prevent wrinkles. In older patients with deeper wrinkles, BOTOX® Cosmetic is often combined with other procedures such as fillers (Restylane or Radiesse) or chemical peeling. BOTOX® Cosmetic has also been shown to be an effective treatment for excessive underarm sweating, migraine headaches and certain muscle spasm disorders.

Dr. Vargas has extensive experience with BOTOX® Cosmetic, especially in the realm of cosmetic uses. She has lectured to other physicians on her experience all over the country. She has recently been invited to be this year’s premier speaker for the otolaryngology review course on botulinum toxin.
